☆ POPSTARS ARGENTINA ☆

Hi guys, it's Cadence! Back in April, I had auditioned for a TV show here in Argentina, called "Popstars". The audition was online, we had to upload a video singing to YouTube and send it in. We could choose the song, and I picked "Hermit The Frog" by MARINA (I love her!).

Something unexpected happened: I got in.

GAHHHH.

Yes. A few months later, I got the email that I passed the audition and they would be waiting for me (and 2999 other girls) in a stadium in Buenos Aires.

So I went, dressed in full lolita fashion, and of course with my Sprig (my late axolotl) plushie by my side. I was so nervous, but I loved the experience. For this instance, some girls had to dance, and some others had to sing. I got to sing (thank God!). We had to perform the same song as in our video and we had only 30 seconds.

After everyone finished, there was like an hour of suspense. And finally, they announced the "winners": the girls who passed to the next round.

They would show the numbers on screen, in order. My number was 1525. And when they showed it, I almost died. I screamed and shouted and started to cry of happiness.

For the second (or third, if we count the first online audition) round, they gave us a list of songs to choose from. We had, again, 30 seconda to sing one of those songs.

The list was the following:

Yup. I picked "Dangerous Woman" by Ariana Grande.

The day came. I brought Sprig with me again, of course. You can see it in the video, how I introduce him to the judges.

I sang "Dangerous Woman" and mind you, I did it perfectly. My voice only trembled, just slightly, in the pre chorus. Of all the 30 seconds I sang, that's the part they decided to show to the public, obviously: the part where my voice was shaking.

The third, and my last round sadly, was the worst. They gave us again, a list of songs, this time shorter. With only 2 or 3 days to learn them. This time, we had one minute to sing, and we had to pick three songs, just in case. This was the list:

I chose Lovesong, Hay Un Lugar, and Buenos Aires.

I was so nervous and upset that day, and I honestly still don't know why. Nothing had happened to me. Maybe the fact that my mom was taking me to the recording studio for the first time, and I had gone with my dad the other times. Maybe the fact that my skin was horrible that day and I felt self conscious. I don't know, but I messed it up.

When I walked into the little stage, Ángela Torres, one of the judges and a famous singer from Argentina, told me she remembered me. That was so sweet. She said she remembered my pink outfit.

I first sang Lovesong, and I was so incredibly nervous, that in some parts, I sang off key. The judges were aware of that and that's what they told me: "how do you feel about your vocals?". I acknowledged that my performance wasn't the best, and I replied that I was very nervous. They gave me the chance to sing one other song.

I was nervous, I had to choose a song and I didn't think it thorugh. Trying to rush, I chose Hay Un Lugar. Looking back, it was a bad choice. I thought "okay, this is my opportunity", "Cady, don't fuck this up". However, I did fuck it up even worse.

My voice came out all wrong: off key, shaky, scared. And that's why they eliminated.

I understand their decision, I would've eliminated me too (lol). However, they did miss a huge opportunity with me.

You know why? Because I'm not going to be the next anything. I'm going to be the FIRST Cadence Wishes.

So yeah, guys. I know you all like to brag about knowing successful artists from the beginning. That's why you should listen to music, and join this little fandom called "Wishers".
